How the work is done

Water behaves differently in a city where so many buildings are close to a century old. Plaster on wood lath, old-growth hardwood, fieldstone foundations and steam heat all hold water longer and hide it better than newer materials. The restoration team plans every job around that: moisture mapping before any equipment goes down, extraction first, then drying measured against a dry reference in the same building.

In triple-deckers and apartment blocks, water rarely stays in one unit, so the drying team checks the floors above and below the source. In basements, the category of the water decides what can be dried and what has to be removed.

Every job leaves a paper trail: the moisture map, daily readings, timestamped photos and the category and class of the loss. That file is what an adjuster reads.
